The Challenge
Meeting patient engagement goals while reducing the burden on clinicians
Doctors of Physical Therapy initially turned to Medbridge to help meet complex compliance and CEU tracking requirements across its 75+ clinics in six states. They also began using Medbridge’s Home Exercise Program to deliver more consistent care plans—but without EMR integration, the manual process was inefficient and put extra burden on clinicians.
Clinicians were spending too much time switching between systems, copying and pasting passwords and notes, and printing out exercise programs. This created communication gaps and limited visibility into what patients were doing between visits, making it harder to deliver truly personalized care. Despite strong clinician-patient relationships, the lack of data and digital tools made it difficult to track engagement and progress outside the clinic. Doctors of Physical Therapy needed a better way to scale patient engagement, streamline workflows, and preserve the therapeutic alliance that’s central to their model of care.
The Solution
Connecting systems to support clinicians and inspire patients
Medbridge worked closely with Doctors of Physical Therapy to implement its Raintree integration and streamline clinician workflows. The integration leverages Medbridge’s Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver a mix of Medbridge and custom training resources that educate staff on the new integrated process. With the integration, clinicians now have access to:
- Single Sign-On (SSO): Clinicians can seamlessly access Medbridge through Raintree without needing to remember multiple passwords or switch between systems, helping streamline their workflows.
- Automated note documentation: Instead of manually copying and pasting, clinicians can now save documentation directly into Raintree with a single click—reducing errors and saving time.
- Easy digital sharing tools: Home exercise programs can be quickly shared with patients via text or email. Patients then use the Medbridge GO app to access their programs, complete exercises, give feedback, and send messages—enhancing engagement between visits.

“The direct integration has allowed us to increase our stats. But more importantly, we've been able to better engage our patients outside of the four walls of treatment beyond the normal in-person interactions.”

The Results
Increased efficiency, patient engagement, and personalized care
For Doctors of Physical Therapy, integrating Medbridge with the Raintree EMR system has significantly benefited clinicians and patients.
Key results include:
-
Improved Clinician Workflows
With fewer tabs and clicks required to create programs and save documentation, clinicians are saving time in the clinic, which they can now use to work directly with patients. This easier workflow allows clinicians to enroll more patients in Medbridge Home Exercise Program, which provides them with valuable engagement, feedback, and historical data.
-
Enhanced Digital Patient Engagement and Communication
Doctors of Physical Therapy has seen increased digital sharing of home exercise programs and much higher patient engagement, resulting in improved data collection and communication with patients. After integrating Medbridge with Raintree, patient logins increased by 83 percent, clinicians created 16 percent more HEP episodes every month, and patients created 3.6 times more HEP episodes, providing clinicians with the data and feedback they need to provide more personalized care.
-
More Personalized Care
With more engagement and feedback data available, in addition to less time on administrative tasks building programs, clinicians are able to use their expertise to better reach their goal of personalized care for every patient.

“The feedback has been positive from our clinicians. Our outcomes have been excellent, our NPS scores are high. This integrated experience provides that streamlined option to continue to engage patients between visits.”
